Message from the President

Welcome to the South Australian Branch of the Australian College of Educators. I am very pleased to be provided with the opportunity to lead the South Australian Branch. I was previously in the position of President-Elect (2008), and have been looking forward to taking on the Presidents role in South Australia. I'd like to thank the out going President, Wendy Teasdale-Smith, her leadership over the last 2 years has positioned ACE in the spotlight in South Australia.

We have a committed South Australian committee who all bring different expertise and thinking into planning professional activities, that we coordinate for SA. The committee members come from many different "walks of life" and therefore bring a richness and diversity to our group. Our aim is to bring the best educational speakers and professional development opportunities to South Australia.

There will be a lot of interest in South Australia about the national curriculum in 2010 and 2011.  We will find opportunities to keep our members informed about this Australian Government curriculum reform agenda.

I have now operated as an educator for over 20 years - having working in both country and metropolitan locations in South Australia. My leadership experiences in relation to different levels of schooling are, preschool to year 12. I also work with universities throughout the year. These opportunities enable me to share the work at my current school in relation to continuous school improvement and exploring elements of effective schooling. I am currently the principal of a year 6-12 school.

I encourage all South Australian members, to consider what we in ACE have to offer.
