Event Reminder: Welcome to the Profession - The 1st Event of North Harbour/ Ku-ring-gai Region of the College

You are invited to participate in the first meeting of our amalgamated Region, comprising the previous North Harbour and Ku-ring-gai Regions of the College. We hope you can come along to support the new Region and our new President Ms Kim Jackson

 The theme of this meeting is: Welcome to the Profession

This meeting has been designed specifically for beginning teachers to provide them with some ideas of what they are likely to expect in their early years of teaching and what assistance they can call on from within their school and from professional organisations such as the Australian College of Educators.

A number of outstanding speakers has been assembled for this meeting, which will commence with a short case-study presentation by an award-winning teacher - Cathie Thomas (William Clarke College, Kellyville), who is in her second year of teaching.  Two leading and experienced School Principals - Ms Kim Jackson (Killarney Heights High School) and Ms Vicki Treble (Balgowlah North Public School) will then share their experiences, with some focus on what support beginning teachers might expect in their schools.

Following these presentations, there will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions and open up discussion on what for them is a set of critical issues as they begin their teaching. The meeting will provide College members to meet formally the inaugural President and Committee of the new Region that is now in operation and to see the program planned for 2012.
