SA Education in the Square - What is 21st Century Leadership?
A CO-OPERATIVE PRESENTATION FROM

What is 21st Century Leadership?
Associate Professor Carolyn Palmer, School of Education, Flinders University
Associate Professor Carolyn Palmer and others will look at the changes in leadership that are necessary in the 21st Century. The panel will include practising principals who will provide real world examples of the changes that are occurring.
School reformers have increasingly pointed to the school principal as the most important agent for needed change in our schools. With this recognition, principals are now expected to do even more in their already overloaded schedules. "(Birkman-Fink, 2009, p. 7) states "Today's organizations require a new generation of leaders - people with high potential who are flexible, manage change and meet demands. Are the school leaders of today equipped to meet the challenges they face? The aim of this study is to contribute to the literature on the impact of leadership training by investigating how leadership training programs have assisted school leaders to achieve and sustain leadership positions.
There will be ample time for discussion.
