Implementation of the National Professional Standards for Teachers will have wide ranging impacts on the teaching profession. This session will provide an update on the latest thinking associated with the accreditation of pre-service courses, teacher certification and teacher registration and how that may inform what happens in our tertiary institutions and schools.

Edmund Missen
AITSL General Manager

Edmund Misson is General Manager, Melbourne at AITSL. In this role, his responsibilities include the national approach to accreditation of initial teacher education, work towards nationally consistent teacher registration, and certification of Highly Accomplished and Lead teachers.

Prior to joining AITSL in January 2011, Edmund was General Manager, Youth Transitions in the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. He advised the Victorian Government on a range of education, training and other social policy issues for fifteen years. Edmund has a Master’s degree in public administration.
