Hot Topic #1 - MySchool Website and the Transparency Agenda

When the Labor Government came into office at the end of 2008 the Education Minister, Julia Gillard, promised a transparent reporting agenda for schools and school communities. January 2010 saw the launch of the MySchool website where all Australian schools are rated against 'like schools' in terms of their NAPLAN results. The site will be added to during 2010 with sources of funding and satisfaction surveys, and over time the inclusion of some value added data. Representatives from the three educational sectors will lead the discussion on the benefits and implications of this agenda and explore potential implications for schools.
