Evidence-based early childhood education in Australia: the Abecedarian approach

In this lecture Professor Sparling will discuss the Abecedarian approach, an evidence-based approach to improving learning environments for the very young. The approach has demonstrated both early and long-lasting benefits to vulnerable children from birth to school entry, with significant advantages from as early as 18 months of age to as late as 30 years. This evidence has heavily influenced the current support for high quality early childhood education programs to counteract the effects of poverty and deprivation.
