2009 WA Hot Topic #5 - Literacy Remixed!

Date:
9 September 2009

Our communication landscape has shifted dramatically in a few short years. New communication tools demand that educators embrace new literacies and help their students gain essential skills in areas ranging from search literacy and information literacy to participatory literacy and multimedia literacy, not to mention the hallmark of contemporary culture: remix literacy.  This talk will touch on both the advantages and the disadvantages of new modes of literacy, stressing the importance of an informed and appropriate educational response to today's communication tools.
