Elida Brereton, famous for her role as Margaret Murray, the Principal in the ABC series 'Summer Heights High" was the Guest Speaker presenting the 28th annual Len Falk Memorial Lecture last Wednesday 20th October at The Waratah Restaurant, Morwell.

Over 70 guests from Gippsland and from Melbourne came to hear her passionate call for more of the best teachers to take up leadership positions in education.

Special guests included Doreen Falk, former Director of Yallourn TAFE Mick Scanlan, Dr Margaret Batten, A.O. as well as President Carl Stevens and Vice President Annette Rome from the Victorian Branch of the Australian College of Educators.

"We need people who are committed to learning, committed to making schooling a good experience for the students and who can focus their staff on good relationships.  That is the basis for quality learning."

In a highly entertaining and wide ranging talk Elida covered the problems of educational leadership as well as the positives that make it so rewarding.

Dr. Peter Whitley, Director of Gippstafe thanked Elida for her insights and dedication to the training of our future leaders.  Keith Brownbill, Secretary of the Gippsland Group of ACE presented Elida with locally produced gifts to remind her of the occasion.
