Dr Brian Croke

Dr Brian Croke, Executive Director of the Catholic Education Commission, NSW, has been announced as the recipient of the Australian College of Educators highest NSW state award, the Wyndham Medal.

Dr Brian Croke graduated from Macquarie University with a first class honours degree, and became the first Macquarie graduate to be accepted into the University of Oxford where he graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1978. Dr Croke  is Adjunct Professor in History at Macquarie  University and an Honorary Associate in Classics and Ancient History at the University of Sydney.

Dr Croke has played a significant  national  role in education  through his participation in various  government boards and committees.  Dr  Croke has been the Director of the Catholic Education Commission and a member of the NSW Board of Studies since 1994, where he currently holds the position of Deputy President. In recent years Dr Croke has been a key player in the movement towards national curriculum and national assessment for all Australian schools. Dr Croke is an educator who has successfully balanced a senior management and leadership role with a strong and productive commitment to education in his area of scholarly pursuit. In recognising his considerable achievements and contributions to the field of Australian education and scholarship, the Australian College of Educators (NSW Branch) is honoured to present its highest state award to Dr Brian Croke.

The Wyndham Medal was presented to Dr Brian Croke at a ceremony in Sydney on 5 August 2011.
