Queensland Branch College Medal

The 2010 Biennial Medallist's Oration was delivered by Professor Neil Dempster at the Queensland Branch's 50th anniversary celebrations on the 15 July 2010, precisely 50 years after the Queensland Branch was officially formed on the 15 July 1960.

Professor Dempster's oration examined significant shifts in Australian education over the last 50 years from a personal as well as a national perspective.  He discussed some of the most significant developments in policy and practice as well as some supposed 'truths' about the education of children and young people.  In particular, he responded to the question: Are there matters in the education of the young where continuity with the past should take precedence over reform or change efforts for the future?
