The Oration celebrates the contribution of Pam Gray to education in North Queensland.

Pamela Gray

Member of ACE and CEC Pamela spent much of her 40 year career teaching in Far Northern schools, including Whitfield, Machans Beach, Woree and Trinity Beach State Schools. While she was a teacher first and foremost, she was also a principal and education adviser during that time.

Pamela was known for her passion for language and literacy, she worked tirelessly for the Australian Literacy Educators Association, Peninsula Council, organising regional conferences which attracted expert speakers from across Australia.

She also contributed greatly to the Australian College of Educators and was the secretary of the Cairns group. As well, Pamela was a life member of the Cairns Education Centre, a non profit organisation providing support services for the city's educators and university students.

Pamela's colleagues describe her as a great teacher and a great friend whose warm, cheerful manner drew out the best in people, the mark of excellence in teaching and learning.
