Quality Teaching Award

NSW Quality Teaching Awards - Proudly supported by Lenovo

The NSW Quality Teaching Awards are widely regarded as being among the most prestigious awards for teaching in Australia. They are presented by the NSW Minister for Education and Training, supported by Lenovo, and administered through processes undertaken by the Australian College of Educators, NSW. They recognise teachers who are outstanding in their chosen fields - early childhood, primary, secondary, university and TAFE.

Eligibility

The Awards are open to permanent and temporary full or part - time teachers working in government and non-government settings: early childhood, primary, secondary, TAFE NSW and university.

Assessment process

The assessment process undertaken by members of the Australian College of Educators, many of whom are previous recipients of a NSW Quality Teaching Award, involves comments from three referees, a learning portfolio of achievements prepared by the applicant and, for short-listed applicants, in-class observation and interviews with professional colleagues and students. Parent interviews are also arranged in the case of early childhood and school applicants.

Candidates are judged on their professional knowledge, understanding, skills and values using criteria developed by the Australian College of Educators.
