Australian Awards for Teaching Excellence
The Australian Awards for Teaching Excellence recognise and celebrate the exceptional achievements of the teaching profession from early childhood through to senior secondary schooling.
The Awards raise the status of the teaching profession through:
- recognising, celebrating and rewarding teachers, principals, support staff and schools
- building greater appreciation in the community of the high quality of the Australian teaching profession
- providing professional learning experiences.
The Awards are an initiative of the Australian Government, managed by Teaching Australia with the assistance of the Australian College of Educators (ACE).
Awards Ceremony
The Hon Julia Gillard MP, Minister for Education will present sixty-four exceptional winners with their award at a ceremony in the Great Hall of Parliament House, Canberra, 9.45am to 11am, Thursday 29 October, in association with World Teachers' Day. Master of Ceremonies: Geraldine Doogue. Welcome address: Gregor Ramsey, Chair of Teaching Australia.
