The Right Representation? Images of Teachers for Future Australians

How will Australian teachers be viewed by their fellow citizens in the future? Part of the answer to this question could lie with the evaluation of the relationships between educational promotion and the creation of representations of teachers and teaching work conveyed through the nation's media outlets. This article will highlight some key connections between Australian teachers, media outlets and educational promotion, as existing relationships between Australian educational administrators, teachers and media personnel are already complex. Greater research is urgently needed so that Australian teachers can fully understand the importance of mass media depictions of education. This article will also provide an overview of a number of areas for future study, as well as highlight the difficulties that must be overcome in order to complete research tasks related to teacher representation and educational promotion.
