Peter Veenker is a proponent of a concept aimed at stimulating social and economic growth in regional Australia. He refers to Albury-Wodonga, Australia's first learning city and believes that learning, as the most valuable resource of a community, is the basis for the promotion of partnerships between TAFE, industry and enterprises, schools and higher institutions, governments and communities. He believes that partnerships, while both common and complex, can support regional economic development and engage the communities under a common flag. He talks about the concept of partnership in national policy directions for the VET system and that this country, in particular regional communities, are not taking advantage of the social and economic potential of these collaborative partnerships. Those who face similar problems and challenges will have more opportunities for finding solutions and making improvements.
