The Draft National Curriculum - Applying Austrlias National Human Rights Framework is a Submission from Amnesty International to the Australian Government in response to the release of the Australian Human Rights Framework launched by the Attorny General in April 2011.  This framework  is informed by five key principles including  "the importance of human Rights education.

it also commits the Australian Government to "positive and practical steps to progress the framework", including investing over $12 million in a 'comprehensive suite of education initiatives to promote a greater understandig of human rights across the community.

However 100% of this funding is earmarked for community groups undertaking targeted community education.

Amnestiy International argues that this is an inadequate response and that human rights should be added as a cross curriculum perspective to the Australian national Curriculum.
