College Conversations April 09
The 50th Anniversary Dinner of the Australian College of Educators was 'perfect' to quote the CEO, Cheryl O'Connor. The gala dinner was one of those momentous occasions in the history of the College.
The Digital Fair was an outstanding success. Participants were able to integrate both the theoretical and practical aspects of digital education. Many delegates commented on the outstanding keynote speakers who painted a broad picture of education and those presenters who integrated education and connectivity to the cultural and educational world of young people.
The Year Book was presented by the editor, Professor Neil Dempster. The First 50 Years is a special commemorative snapshot of the College celebrating its 50th anniversary - it is a 'coffee table' book, not a traditional history and includes the names, people, national events and educational initiatives over 50 years. This is a limited release edition.

Join Professor Erica McWilliam, the Australian College of Educators' 2009 ACE on the Road Scholar. In her presentation, The 21st Century Teacher: From Sage to Guide to Meddler - Erica explains why a further move is needed for this century, with teachers increasingly seeing themselves as 'meddling in the middle' of the curriculum, co-creating and assembling knowledge and cultural products with students and collaborating in evaluating their worth. The presentation canvases reasons for a different type of experience of schooling in which curriculum is entirely set in advance, when process is as valuable a product and when memorisation takes a back seat to serious play.
