Two quality publications from ACE

The Australian College of Educators has recently published two quality publications. One is the second in the monograph series Historical Perspectives on Education titled Mad Aunts, Illegitimate Children and Royal Bloodlines! Family, Women and History in 2008 by Noeline Kyle. Papers in this series are designed to provide historical perspectives on education to provide a context for current educational theory and practice.

The second is the most recent of the Ed Ventures series, titled Leadership for Learning: A framework synthesizing recent research by Professor Neil Dempster. The framework is being applied to literacy learning and is being piloted during 2009-10 in the Principals as Literacy Leaders (PALL) project funded by the Australian Federal Government. It articulates eight dimensions on which school leaders need to take action if they are to improve learning in their schools. Papers in this series are designed to broaden the horizons of education by encouraging them to contribute to the discourse on innovation and the way forward for education in Australia.

On a different note I wish to bid a fond farewell to all members as I will be leaving my role as Programs Manager of ACE to take up another educational opportunity. In particular I would like to thank the National Office Staff in Canberra who work tirelessly to provide an outstanding service to all members of the college. I would also like to thank the ACE Board and Council for their support. I continue to be impressed by the College and inspired by ACE members who continue to strive for excellence and expertise in their role as educators.
