ACE and ACEL conclude merger discussions.
The Australian College of Educators and the Australian Council for Educational Leaders have concluded their discussions on the possibility of merging the two organisations.
Detailed examination of the case for and the risks within a merger has been carried out over the past two months, with goodwill on both sides. The Task Force is now much better informed in relation to the natures, operations and strategic directions of each organisation.
As a result of these discussions it has become clear that the strategic foci of the two organisations in the foreseeable future are fundamentally different. The Boards of the two organisations have therefore decided not to proceed with a merger at this time.
It is clear that ACEL and ACE have many areas of common interest which will give rise to immediate opportunities for joint activities. The Boards have agreed to remain open to the possibilities of continuing and exploring further various forms of collaboration or affiliation between the two organisations locally and nationally.
