ACE Queensland Branch History 1960-2010

Celebrations were conducted on the 15 July 2010, precisely 50 years after the Queensland Branch was officially formed on the 15 July 1960.

Australian College of Educators Queensland Branch History

The celebrations included the launch of our historical publication Australian College of Educators Queensland Branch Celebrating the First 50 Years: 1960-2010 which is now made available to members and for wider dissemination [click here]. We recommend that you enjoy reading through the history booklet and gain a sense of our rich history and recognise the contribution of the College to education in Queensland and the nation. We value your membership and past contributions, and also look forward to your future, active advocacy for and membership of ACE in Queensland.

50th Anniversary Presentation by Professor Neil Dempster

At the celebration event, Professor Dempster's oration examined significant shifts in Australian education over the last 50 years from a personal as well as a national perspective.  He discussed some of the most significant developments in policy and practice as well as some supposed 'truths' about the education of children and young people.  In particular, he responded to the question: Are there matters in the education of the young where continuity with the past should take precedence over reform or change efforts for the future?
